Study on the district heating cost calculation of the municipality’s own production of district heating by wood chips and of purchased district heating energy. A reference of the current price of district heating produced with natural gas price was used.
2014, Incorporation study on the municipality’s natural gas and district heating operations
2014, Location study of biofuel heating plant
Study on the dimensioning of the boiler in order for it to produce 95 – 98 % of annual district heating production with biofuels. Investment value and district heating cost calculations were made for the four alternative locations of the biomass heating plant studied.

2011, Energy production study of Korvenkylä
The study compared energy production alternatives for the town planning area of Korvenkylä suburb with the following alternatives:
• building-specific geothermal heating
• area-specific geothermal heating
• area-specific heating with biofuel heating plant
• connection of areas to district heating network of Oulun Energia company
The study consisted of defining the heating demand of buildings and areas, preliminary dimensioning of network, preliminary route map, proposal for site of centralised heat production equipment, calculations of investment needs and energy prices.

2011, Combined heat and power (CHP) project in Ylivieska muncipality
The CHP project was carried out in two phases:
1) Phase one: Defining heating demand, fuel study, study on alternative heating plants and their dimensioning (heating plant 11 MW / ORC-power plant / CHP-plant 3,3 MWe and 11 MWth) as well as energy balance calculations
2) Phase two: CHP-plant 3,3 MWe and 11 MWth / CHP-plant 5,1 MWe and 17 MWth

2002, District heating feasibility study
The study examined the feasibility of extending district heating by joining the networks of Parainen and Tennby and building a new district heating network in Söderby. All calculations and measurements were based on the premise that appr. 90% of the total energy demand was produced by waste heat purchased from Nordkalk Oyj Abp, and from a new biofuel heating plant.

2004, Study on utilising Finnsementti OY’s waste heat
The study examined the possibility of selling Finnsementti OY’s waste heat to Paraisten Kaukolämpö Oy for its distrcit heating network for increasing the efficiency of heat recovery. The outcome was a recommendation for equipment procurement and alteration work to automation systems. The study examined four different input capacity alternatives. Connection trunk lines and investments were calculated for each alternative. In addition, energy prices were calculated for current and future consumption for the different alternatives.
2005, Defining the price of district heating energy sold to Finnsementti Oy
The study defined the price of district heating energy for which Paraisten Kaukolämpö Oy may econimcally sell it to Finnsementti Oy during its cement factory’s production stoppage periods.

2007, Feasibility study of biofuel district heating
The study examined the feasibility of building an 8 MW biofuel heating plant in order to replace the consumption of heavy fuel oil used to power five greenhouses.

2012, Energy production development plan
The study examined the possibilities of meeting the demands for heating and steam power set by the planned extensions in the Talvivaara mine area. A steam biofuel heating plant was dimensioned taking into account the increased demands for heating and steam power, production possibilities during the summer months (minimum power) and optimisation of fuel costs. The calculations included a cost estimate of the steam biofuel heating plant, district heating network, new steam and condensate line and investment need for pipe bridge.

2012, Study on sale of heat
The study examined alternatives for heat production and sales into the district heating network. The study included a recommendation on the optimal dimensioning of heating plant using Versowood Oy’s by-products, taking into account possibilities of heat sales and plant type:
• new 12 MW biomass boiler
• CHP-plant (9 MWth + 2,7 MWel)
Calculations were made including and excluding energy subsidy.

2011, Cost effectiveness calculations for Kurkela area
The study for Kurkela’s row housing area examined the following heat production alternatives:
electric heating
• building-specific light fuel oil heating
• geothermal heating
• building of heating plant
• connection to existing district heating network
The study accounted for different numbers of buildings.
